Remote Diagnostics
The Benefits of Remote Diagnostics
Remote Diagnostics is an important tool in the maintenance of today’s advanced security systems – ensuring continuous system integrity, preventing minor problems from becoming major ones and enabling the trouble-shooting and correction of physical, electrical and electronic faults. With remote diagnostics, technicians and installers can quickly and easily diagnose a wide range of problems and often suggest remedies - without actually visiting the site - thus reducing truck roll and assuring significant cost savings. In cases where remote diagnostics cannot solve specific problems - and site visits are therefore required – these remote checks allow installers to locate and evaluate the problem and to gauge the length of time as well as the type of replacement parts that will be required. This enables better planning and resource utilization, thus saving both time and money.

Meeting European Standards Means Fewer Onsite Visits
Installers are often required to make onsite system checks twice a year. However, in the case of the European EN 50131-1, if certain strict technical requirements are met, installers need only make one onsite visit per year, with the second check allowed to be done remotely. Unique among security systems, the proprietary protocol of the ProSYS, which assures completely reliable diagnostics, complies with the EN specifications and has earned this very important EN certification - thus offering significant cost savings to Rokonet’s customers by reducing by 50% the required number of visits.

Beyond Remote Diagnostics
Dedicated to ongoing R&D, Rokonet continues to introduce exciting new technologies that are rapidly implemented in a steady stream of new products. In the area of remote diagnostics, Rokonet has made a giant leap forward. Not only do Rokonet systems offer the highest level of Remote Diagnostics, but now there is also a choice of implementing these remote diagnostics either manually or automatically. When diagnostics are scheduled and controlled automatically, hundreds of expensive man-hours can be eliminated, making Rokonet, hands down, the most cost-effective choice in today’s market.

Advanced Diagnostics in the ProSYS Integrated System
Rokonet has always been on the cutting edge of remote diagnostics and has offered diagnostic capabilities beginning with its earliest systems. The company’s newest integrated system, the sophisticated and easily upgradeable ProSYS, can handle even the largest and most complex projects. Integrating all system components, ProSYS enables deep diagnostics at both the system and component levels. A Bus Communication Test checks the communication quality on the system’s 4-wire bus, assuring exceptionally precise pinpointing of ongoing and intermittent problems. Creating a baseline for maintenance, the system records dates, times, results, faults, etc., bringing a unique level of quality and reliability to remote diagnostics.

Remote Communication via TCP/IP
Remote monitoring and communication is accomplished via a built-in digital dialer, ACM or GSM/GPRS module. The ACM – Advanced Communication Module – is a fully supervised ProSYS accessory that enables fast, ongoing TCP/IP communication between the alarm panel and the central monitoring station. Utilization of existing network infrastructures, including LAN and WAN, results in the elimination of phone bills associated with alarm calls, representing a significant cost reduction. Remote diagnostics enables communication quality to be determined for different devices and accessories connected to the system, with unique diagnostic capabilities available via remote upload/download software. Roko.net, an advanced Internet tool, enables remote calls to panels, as well as diagnostics and centralized control.

Industrial LuNAR Ceiling Detector
The Industrial LuNAR Detector - which can be mounted up to a height of 8.6 meters (28 ft) - is the smartest ceiling detector on the market today. Offering Rokonet’s revolutionary ACT™ (Anti-Cloak Technology), it detects intruders even during camouflage attempts and at high room temperatures. The Industrial LuNAR can be adjusted and diagnosed remotely onsite, using the bi-directional infrared remote control, or via ProSYS, using the upload/download software or LCD keypad. The remote microwave adjustment enables a one-person walk test, with no need to climb ladders. Diagnostic tools include input voltage reading, status of PIR and MW channels (signal and noise levels), detector settings, trouble indication and power supply input.
